Steps for Assembly

1. Attach House Back to Base

Squeeze a line of icing along the bottom edge of the back piece. Press it firmly onto the base. Use jars (like spice jars or saltshakers) on each side to prop the piece up until it can stand on its own.

Note: Once you place this piece, it sets where your house will sit on the base. Decide beforehand how much "front" or "back" yard you want.

2. Attach the Sides

Take the smaller of the two rectangles (side pieces). Squeeze a generous line of frosting along one end and the bottom of one side piece. Attach it to the inside edge of the back piece and the base. Prop with jars if needed until it stands on its own. Repeat for the other side.

3. Attach the Front

Run frosting along the bottom of the front piece and along the two side edges. Press it firmly onto the base and the side pieces.

Tip: Let the house sit and dry for about 15 minutes before

attaching the roof to improve stability.

4. Attach the Roof

  • Run frosting along the top edges of the front and back pieces.

  • Gently attach one roof piece, aligning the long edge with the top points of the front and back. Hold it in place for 30 seconds or until it stops sliding down.

  • Attach the second roof piece the same way, running frosting along the other edges of the front, back, and top of the house. Hold for 30 seconds until secure.

5. Reinforce and Dry

Run frosting along the top edges of the house to reinforce the roof. Check all edges and fill any gaps with frosting.

Let your house sit overnight to dry completely.

Optional: Chimney Assembly

If you choose to add a chimney, assemble it before attaching it to the roof:

  • Tip parts upside down

  • Attach the outside edge of Part A to the inside edge of Part B with icing. Repeat for the other two pieces.

  • Let dry for 10 minutes.

  • Add icing along the “V” shape and attach to the house in your desired location.

Tip: The chimney is easier to handle once dry.

If it falls apart, just reattach with icing.

Storing Leftover Frosting

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container at room temperature.

Preserving Your Gingerbread House

  • Keep your house out of reach of pets and small children who might choke on candies.

  • Avoid placing it near moisture or heat.

  • To preserve your house for years, store it in a plastic bag away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
